Why do I like this video?

  • Tim Brown talks about the collaborative, co-creative process which shifts the orientation of design from the designer to the beneficiary. Making a shift towards collaboration unlocks new utility which then creates new value which benefits society.
  • Tim Brown also cites the issue of “improving the patient experience” in another video also by Tim Brown, the perspective for gathering insights was shifted to a patient’s perspective. The user/beneficiary experience is critical to successful design. “Design thinking” is about unlocking new alternatives through a divergent approach.
  • I believe that Design is not an end in itself but a continuous and collaborative process of investigating and creating new solutions for a better world

Why do I like this video?

  • Dan Pink delivers new insights on the science of intrinsic motivation: Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose
  • Dan presents a very compelling argument against conventional wisdom and the way we have accepted previous theories behind reward and motivation.
  • Results Only Work Environment (ROWE) and its aspirations will eventually change the working landscape in the years to come
  • There is a disparity between what science knows and what management does! Let’s blur the lines!

Why do I like this video?

  • Malcolm fondly speaks of his friend Howard who concluded we should not search for the perfect Pepsi but rather produce the perfect Pepsis
  • Innovation comes from looking at the bigger picture and challenging the status quo
  • Gladwell also challenges the geniuses of management by using Howard’s case in his discovery of multitudes of preferences
  • Ask the right questions and avoid the conventional assumptions; There is no perfect mustard there are only different kinds of mustard!
