Fan Favorites : Faye Ferrer
Thank you for the response and am really looking forward to be part of TEDxFortBonifacio.
First, about myself. I currently work as a campaigner for an environmental health NGO called Health Care Without Harm – my work specifically focuses on eliminating hazardous chemicals being used in the health care industry and right now we are focused on eliminating mercury in measuring devices. I am also a photographer but focused more on photojournalism and animal photography and advocacy.
My favorite TED videos of course the standard answer is a lot, but let me give you two of my favorite and don’t get that puzzled look when I tell you that they are both from Africa, since TED was introduced to me by my biking buddy from Tanzania I have become interested in stories from Africa. I also prefer TED stories from people who have risen from adversity and shows love for country despite all odds.
My firs is Emmanuel Jal, is the founder of GUA Africa which helps people who were affected by war and poverty. Mr Jal tells his story in the form of rap which makes his story more personal and more endearing. He also pays tribute to a lady who helped him out during those times of need and now he sorts of “pays back” that kindness through GUA Africa. His story and organization can be found here.
My second one is William Kamkwamba with his story ” The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” his book and his TED appearance is an inspiration not only to Africans but also to people who are faced with similar problems. His book can be found here and his TED appearance here
Thank you again for allowing me to share my two personal favorites. Hoping to be part of TEDx Fort Bonifacio.
