“Imagi-Nation”

Our event at the Fort will be about Nation Building. In the spirit of TED we want to challenge you to ask big questions, think of ideas worth spreading, and imagine awesome new solutions to the problems we face everyday. We want to pull this generation closer to the real picture of this nation bequeathed to us. Sure, we’ve inherited problems from our parents and ancestors, but this February we will imagine a nation that we’d be proud to pass on to our children. The Filipino people is gifted with raw ingenuity. It is innate for us to “think outside the box”, in fact for many- to borrow and tweak a line from The Matrix- “there is no box”, and yet majority of our countrymen… live in boxes.

The shantyscapes, urban wastelands, makeshift metropoleis that millions call home exist despite the fact that we’ve had some answers inside us all along. It is true that we are resilient. But resilience is a poor substitute for realized potential and this event was organized precisely for that reason. We will think, dream, ask, stammer, bang our heads against the wall, listen, watch, be inspired, be disturbed, be invested, be spent. All for this nation and what we can imagine it to be, in the spirit of ideas- ideas worth spreading.

“Resilience is a poor substitute for realized potential”
